WRITERS’ GUIDELINES:

We no longer publish our monthly Voice of Experience (VOE) newsletter, but we do accept articles for our weekly Carry The Torch commentary from time to time, or to post among other resources on our website. CGN also posts article to Facebook and Twitter seeking to receive response from readers.

OUR PURPOSE:

The goal of CGN is to become a central resource network for grandparents, grandkids, parents, and local churches. In addition to addressing issues grandparents are facing today, we seek to provide resources that will encourage and support the many grandparents who are in the process of raising their grandchildren. For further information about CGN please visit our website at:

OUR AUDIENCE:

Christian Grandparenting Network is a Christian organization devoted to challenging grandparents and others to intentionally represent Christ to a new generation. CGN is committed to helping individuals and churches cultivate “intentionality” in inter-generational ministry by focusing on and strengthening the grandparent-grandchild relationship.

OUR VOICE:

Christian Grandparenting Network articles are warm, honest, positive and encouraging. Writers share their insights and experiences as fellow learners rather than teachers. Our desire is to maintain a balance of articles that are inspirational, practical, and address the reader as a grandparent.

OUR WRITERS:

  • If you would like to submit an article to the Christian Grandparenting Network, here’s what you should know:
  • Please familiarize yourself with the kinds of topics, articles and features found on Christian Gandparenting Network website.
  • You may submit your query or a finished article via email charper@christiangrandparenting.net, in email text or in Microsoft WORD. Include the phrase “Article Submission” in the email subject line.
  • If you choose to submit a query rather than a completed article, we can only tell you that the stated topic of your article is or is not of interest to us. We cannot agree to accept an article based on a query. Please do not send a letter asking the editor to suggest article topics for you.
  • Proofread your article carefully before you send it.
  • Articles intended for Carry The Torch or the CGN website should be no more than 600 words.
  • Wherever possible, provide links or citations to sources that you quote.
  • Please provide a one- or two-sentence author bio at the end of your article.
  • If an article has already run somewhere else, you must tell us where it ran and that the other publication has given permission for us to run it.
  • Please note that, at this time, CGN does not pay for articles.
  • If your article is accepted, the editor will contact you.
  • Send all query letters, articles, and questions to Cavin Harper at charper@christiangrandparenting.net
  • We read all queries we receive, but we do not have time to respond personally to every one. We may not respond to you if we choose not to use your material.
  • If you are an author of a book (fiction or non-fiction), you may submit a review copy of your book to CGN, 5844 Pioneer Mesa Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80923. After review, if the work is deemed relevant to our stated ministry purpose and objectives, we will contact you about promoting your work on our web site and through our Carry The Torch weekly email publication.
  • If you book is approved for listing on our resources page and for promoting through Carry The Torch, we ask the following:

a. Permission to reprint excerpts when appropriate
b. If your book is not on the Christianbook.com web site, we request a donation be made to CGN for books sold through our promotions.
c. In some cases, arrangements may be made to purchase a quantity of books for sale from our own web store. In such cases, we will establish a purchase price for the books, but all proceeds from the sale through our web site belong solely to Christian Grandparenting Network.

February warms our hearts with love and romance. Children decorate shoe boxes with tissue paper and candied hearts in hopes of receiving a message from their secret admirer. Women dream about suitors presenting them with diamond rings, while married couples, smiling to one another, reminisce about their early days of courtship. What is it about February that makes it different from the rest? Valentine’s Day, of course!

Unintentional Consequences of Our Words

We’ve all heard the saying, “Actions speak louder than words,” and in many ways, that’s true. However, our words have power—they speak loudly and can have a far-reaching impact. Though we try to speak with care, even the best of intentions can sometimes lead to unintended consequences.

Another Year Marked Off the Calendar

Do you find yourself struggling to remember to write the date of the new year after the first of January? Does each year seem to pass faster the older you get? When grandparents feel the years fleeting, they may feel as though their future is very limited. But in God’s economy and timeline, we need to live with the goal of making the most of each day we’re given.
