Our Staff
Sherry Schumann has the privilege and joy of helping grandparents leave a legacy of faith, which is rooted deeply in prayer. She is the president of Christian Grandparenting Network, a charter member of Legacy Coalition and serves on the Southeast GrandCamp staff. She was written two books, Prayers that Stir the Hearts of Grandparents and The Christmas Bracelet.
Sherry’s life in rural South Carolina is simple and beautiful. She has been married to her soul mate for almost four decades. They are blessed with three grown sons, three daughters-in-law and six adorable grandchildren. Sherry’s heart rejoices whenever her home echoes with the sounds of their grandchildren’s voices.
As Resource Director for the Christian Grandparenting Network, Deborah is living the dream. A retired language arts teacher with an incredible bent toward research, lesson design, and teaching, she now feels amazingly blessed to be using these passions to help write and develop curriculum and resources for grandparents. With a proclivity toward the practical, her “How-to” workshops and writings mobilize grandparents to pass a heritage of faith to the next generations.
Deborah and her husband, Don, reside in West Chester, Ohio. They treasure the discipling role God has assigned to them and love spending time with their grown children and twelve grandchildren.
Lillian Penner is the author of Grandparenting with a Purpose: Effective Ways to Pray for Your Grandchildren in English and Spanish. She has been on staff with the Christian Grandparenting prayer ministry for thirteen years, developing prayer cards, Grandparents@Prayer groups, and the Grandparenting Day of Prayer. She has a passion for praying intentionally for her grandchildren and desires to share that passion with other grandparents.
An avid blogger, Lillian breaks into smiles if you ask about her 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She and her husband, John, live in Portland, Oregon, where they are active in church ministries. They were both raised in Christian homes and desire to pass their godly heritage to their future generations. She and her husband enjoy traveling, Southern Gospel music but most of all, enjoy spending time with their family.
When I became a grandparent, I considered the impact my life would have on the newest member of my family. I committed to share my faith in Christ with any grandchildren God would choose to bring into my world and to be an intentional Christian grandparent. It is one of the most joyful journeys I have ever taken, an adventure filled with delight and drama.

After 40+ years in the paper and facility supplies industry, I have recently retired to work as the Store Manager for Christian Grandparenting Network and travel with my wife Debbie to help promote the biblical role that grandparents can and are instructed to have concerning their grandchildren and children. Married 44 years in May, we have two daughters and sons-in-law and one son and daughter-in-law providing us with twelve beautiful grandchildren that we are now enjoying more time with.
