Hiding God’s Word InTheir Hearts

Recently my three young granddaughters sang in a musical in their church. The musical was scripture based, containing many great messages about the birth, life, and death of Jesus Christ. As I was listening to the words of the musical, the thought came to me to be praying that they would remember the words to the songs they were singing. I was reminded of the verse in Psalm 119:11 “Thy Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.” During the program, I prayed the message they were singing would be imprinted on their hearts.

It is very important that we encourage scripture memorization. Then the scriptures will be in their hearts for use when they are tempted, fearful or discouraged.

Many of our grandchildren are participating in Awana, Sunday school, or a Christian school, memorizing scriptures and developing a godly character. Pray they will memorize the scriptures well. Have them recite the scripture verses to you and review the meaning when you are with them.  On the other hand, you can call them on the phone, asking them to recite the scriptures and talk about the verse.

Discovering Jesus – The Lamb of God

During biblical times in the Jewish religious life and sacrificial system, lambs were sacrificed daily to atone for the sins of the people. The lambs used in these sacrifices had to be spotless, without blemish or defects as they symbolized perfect, blameless purity. They foreshadowed what the prophet Isaiah told of the coming One who would be brought “like a lamb to the slaughter”.
