GRANDPARENTS CAN BEAR MUCH FRUIT

by | Mar 5, 2011 | 0 comments

“If you remain in me and my words remain in you,
ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.
This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit,
showing yourselves to be my disciples”
John 15:7, 8 (NIV).

When Jesus was speaking to the disciples in John 15, he was telling them how to bear much fruit, how to pray, and what would bring glory to the Father. The key to bearing much fruit is to remain and abide in the Father. However, we may ask how we do remain in the Father? We remain in Him by staying and lingering in his Word, listening and waiting on what He has to say to us.

God created us for His glory. Our mission in life is to pursue Him and remain in Him. Then God’s desires will be our desires, we can ask whatever we wish and it will be answered. However, it may not be answered in our way or our timing but He will answer because it is His desire.

God may use those struggling difficult times in the lives of our grandchildren to answer our prayers in His way and in His timing. If you have estranged children and grandchildren, remain in God’s Word, asking God to give you peace as you wait for Him to answer your prayer.

God’s promises always have conditions so when we as grandparents remain in God’s Word, we will bear much fruit. Our grandchildren live in a time of spiritual decay. Let’s do our part in restoring the spiritual life in our country by vigilantly praying for our grandchildren. Then we will be profoundly effective in bringing glory to the Father.

Prayer:

Lord, give me peace as I wait for You to do Your work in the lives
of my children and grandchildren.
Help me to love them and keep praying for them.
I may not see the answers in my lifetime but I trust that You will answer my prayer
in Your timing. In Jesus’ name.

6 Ways to Love a Grandchild In College

It’s the time of year when college-aged grandchildren are shopping for dorm room or apartment supplies as they prepare to begin a new adventure away from the home in which they grew up. No longer “children” but not yet independent adults. Grandparents must adjust their methods of connection with those I lovingly refer to as “chronological adults.”
