A Grandmother’s Testimony

by | Aug 23, 2010 | 0 comments

Today, our grandchildren are living in a world where absolutes are not recognized and the truth questioned. As grandparents, we have a great responsibility to stand in the gap for their generation.  Carolyn Hanson, a grandmother in Beaverton, Oregon shares the following testimony of what “Grandparents @ Prayer group means to her.

“I am blessed and to have the opportunity to be a part of a Grandparents @ prayer group. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to spend time praying specifically for our grandchildren.  I am convinced that praying for our grandchildren is vital to their steadfast walk with the Lord. Praying with a group of grandmothers is a wonderful experience….we are of one mindset…..the salvation, protection, and covering for our grandchildren. We have similar experiences, stories and prayer requests for our families. It is heartwarming to hear how God is answering our prayers. Some one once said, ‘Prayer does not fit us for the greater work…prayer IS the greater work.’ We have an awesome God, who hears, and answers our prayers, not always in our timing, or as we would like, but He knows what is best.”

As the National Prayer Coordinator, I would like to challenge grandparents all over the world to find other grandparents with whom they can unite in prayer to stand in the gap for their grandchildren. If you don’t have a group in your city, just find another grandparent and start praying  together for your grandchildren.

Please email me at lpenner@christiangrandparenting.net . I will be happy to send you guidelines and additional information needed to start a “Grandparents@Prayer” group.

The Bread That Lasts Forever

Bread baking is one of my favorite pastimes. It began when my mother first introduced me to the art of yeasted breadmaking. Back then, I had to climb up onto a chair to reach the counter. I loved standing there with my mother’s arms wrapped around me while she pressed...

Discovering Jesus – The Lamb of God

During biblical times in the Jewish religious life and sacrificial system, lambs were sacrificed daily to atone for the sins of the people. They foreshadowed what the prophet Isaiah told of the coming One who would be brought “like a lamb to the slaughter”.
