God’s Promise of His Presence

by | Nov 17, 2025 | 0 comments

God’s presence is a mysterious concept. The Bible teaches us that God is omnipresent. This means God exists beyond the constraints of time and space, always being fully present in very place at all times. This not only applies to God as the Father (Jeremiah 23:23-24), but to the Son (Matthew 28:20) and the Holy Spirit (Psalm 139:7-8). God is omnipresent even when we do not experience his presence or even when we do not recognize him. This attribute is God’s promise that he is with us, not only now, but for eternity.

God’s Presence Now

The promise of God’s presence is a testament to his unwavering commitment to his creation, offering assurance, guidance, and hope to all who trust in him. The promise of God’s presence is a matter of faith, not a feeling, and Jesus’ presence on earth secured and assures us of God’s nearness. The prophet Isaiah tells us, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14). Immanuel means “God with us” and this prophesy was fulfilled in the birth of Jesus (Immanuel), affirming his divine nature and his role as God dwelling among us.

Can we trust in God’s presence, even when we don’t feel he is with us?

Hebrews 13:5 tells us, “for God has said: ‘Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.’” This promise of God’s presence and faithfulness is a cornerstone of biblical assurance.

God’s Presence Forever

Jesus teaches that eternal life is a gift from God given to those who believe in him. His promise to be “with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20) is an assurance of his constant presence. Living eternally with God is only possible by repentance of sins and accepting his Son, Jesus Christ, as savior. And, someday, because of God’s deep love for us in Jesus, we will experience the fullness of his presence for eternity.

Prayer

Father God,

I don’t have the words to express how grateful I am that you are always with me. When life’s trials are a burden, I may not always be aware of your presence but still, I stand firm on your promise to never leave or forsake me. Thank you for giving me a spiritual inheritance with a heavenly kingdom that no one can take from me. I celebrate the birth of your Son, Christ Jesus, as it through my faith in him, I am assured to stand in your presence for eternity. I am in awe of you as my Lord and King.

In Jesus’ Holy Name,

Amen.
