WHO STOOD IN THE GAP FOR YOU?

by | Jan 17, 2011 | 0 comments

I know my parents and grandparents stood in the gap for me with prayer. When I was a child, it was a daily routine in the evening before bedtime to read the Bible and pray together. My grandmother lived with us and I remember my parents and my grandmother praying for me by name every night. I felt loved and special when I heard them praying for me. There were times I was tired and resented the activity, however, now as I look back to my childhood, those are treasured memories.

As grandparents, let’s take every opportunity we can to have our grandchildren hear us pray for them by name. Pray with them by name when they come for a sleep over or before meals.

Will your grandchildren remember the times when they heard you pray specifically for them by name?

They foreshadowed what the prophet Isaiah told of the coming One who would be brought “like a lamb to the slaughter”.
