What Causes Outrage in You?

“Your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.” Matt. 18:14

Three years ago Anders Breivik at a summer camp in Oslo, Norway senselessly and savagely murdered sixty-nine people, mostly children. He did it to make a political statement. People around the world experienced intense anger, sadness, horror, and outrage because of this evil act. Who can imagine the sorrow and loss the parents and families of these children must have felt in the face of such an atrocity? We all felt the effect of this wickedness and others like it.

I wonder if we would feel the same outrage and sorrow if we stopped to consider another evil that is killing thousands, if not millions, of our children today.

It is the evil of a culture that says God is dead, or at the very least, irrelevant and that the Gospel is unnecessary. There is no question that the horror of the Oslo massacre ought to repulse us. So should the destruction of the souls of our children and our grandchildren by the lies of the world.

That is why the Christian Grandparenting Network is calling for a national Grandparent’s Day of Prayer on September 7th. It is time for grandparents everywhere to stand in the gap and defend our children against the devouring attacks against our children by Satan and the world. Gathering for prayer is a major step in establishing this defense.

I know very few grandparents who do not love their grandchildren deeply. Therefore, I call upon those grandparents who care deeply about the eternal destiny of their grandchildren to join me as we band with groups of grandparents around this nation on September 7th to intercede on their behalf.

What if your grandchild had been among those slain in Olso or Columbine or Sandy Hook? Would they have been gathered into the Savior’s arms because of your prayers and commitment to pointing them to Christ? The Father is not willing that any of His little ones should perish. I don’t believe you are either. So, I urge you to join us in prayer in two weeks on September 7th. It’s not too late to organize a prayer group in your church. Click here to learn how easy it is to facilitate a Grandparent’s Day of Prayer event in your church or community. Do it today—for the sake of your grandchildren.

GRANDPAUSE: If you can look on sin without sorrow then you have never looked on Christ.
-C. H. Spurgeon

The Nurturing Qualities of God

The concept of God’s care and compassion is a central theme throughout the Bible. Although the Scriptures – and Jesus as well – refer to God as “Father”, there are numerous examples of God demonstrating nurturing, caring attributes similar to those of a mother.

Bridging the Scriptural Gap for Your Grandchildren

Bridging the scriptural gap does not mean preaching at grandchildren or forcing faith into every conversation. It means standing in the space between biblical truth and everyday life, helping children connect God’s Word to their questions, fears, hopes, and daily experiences.

Helping Grandchildren Discern Truth From Lies

Recently, I programmed my phone’s GPS to guide me to a specific location, and somehow I ended up with two AI women giving me directions at the same time. To make things more confusing, they weren’t giving me the same directions. This experience reminds us that many “voices” compete for our grandchildren’s attention. Some voices impart truth; others don’t.
