SIGNS OF THE TIMES?

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Phil. 1:27

It is difficult to read and hear all the reports of events around the world and not wonder if all these things are signs of the end times. There is no lack of opinion being expressed about the significance of these events. Clearly, the news is filled with stories of global turmoil, wars and rumors of war between nations, as well as recent increased occurrences of earthquakes and famines around the globe. Is it any wonder that there is so much being said and written about these things being signs of the last days?

Your grandchildren may be asking the same question. What will you tell them? Clearly, Jesus warned us to be alert to such things as signs of “the beginning of birth pains”—that is, the end is near. We ought to engage in conversations with our grandchildren and children about such things and what the Bible really teaches. We need to warn them about people who claim to know exactly when Jesus is returning, but we also need to remind them of Jesus’ warnings to be alert and watchful.

Most of all, this is the time to remember that whatever happens, the most important thing is to live our lives in such a way that Christ is exalted and men see our peace is rooted in the confident hope we have in the promises of God. Then we will be able to also teach our grandchildren how to live in hope and to be prepared for anything that may come—to be alert and self-controlled (1 Thess. 5:6), ready to meet Him in the air when He comes, and resolute in the decision to live worthy of the gospel of Christ until He does.

The concept of God’s care and compassion is a central theme throughout the Bible. Although the Scriptures – and Jesus as well – refer to God as “Father”, there are numerous examples of God demonstrating nurturing, caring attributes similar to those of a mother.

Bridging the Scriptural Gap for Your Grandchildren

Bridging the scriptural gap does not mean preaching at grandchildren or forcing faith into every conversation. It means standing in the space between biblical truth and everyday life, helping children connect God’s Word to their questions, fears, hopes, and daily experiences.

Helping Grandchildren Discern Truth From Lies

Recently, I programmed my phone’s GPS to guide me to a specific location, and somehow I ended up with two AI women giving me directions at the same time. To make things more confusing, they weren’t giving me the same directions. This experience reminds us that many “voices” compete for our grandchildren’s attention. Some voices impart truth; others don’t.
