My Grandmother Is Praying… Proverbs 22;4

“Humility and the fear of the Lord
bring wealth and honor and life.”
Proverbs 22:4

Father, thank You for this wonderful promise of reward to those who humbly trust in You. Please give my grandchild the discernment to accept the time and place of these rewards. Help him/her to gratefully receive Your blessings here on earth and to patiently await those rewards to be enjoyed in heaven. Whatever Your plan for his/her life, may his/her primary focus be not on the gifts she/he receives, but on the Giver.

Application:  Tell your grandchild the story of Joseph from Genesis 37-47. Relate how Joseph had to humble himself many times and how he feared the Lord rather than man. The result was wealth, honor, and life—not only for himself, but for all of Israel.

The prayer suggestion is used by permission from “My Grandmother is. . . praying for me” by Kathryn March, Pamela Ferris, and Susan Kelton. They are three ordinary grandmothers desiring to pray for the next generation to become men and women of strong character and great faith. They have a verse from the Proverbs, a prayer for the verse and an application for each day of the year. I have found the book an excellent resource for praying from my grandchildren, especially for character development. You may order the book from their website:  www.mygrandmotheris.com.

Bridging the Scriptural Gap for Your Grandchildren

Bridging the scriptural gap does not mean preaching at grandchildren or forcing faith into every conversation. It means standing in the space between biblical truth and everyday life, helping children connect God’s Word to their questions, fears, hopes, and daily experiences.

Helping Grandchildren Discern Truth From Lies

Recently, I programmed my phone’s GPS to guide me to a specific location, and somehow I ended up with two AI women giving me directions at the same time. To make things more confusing, they weren’t giving me the same directions. This experience reminds us that many “voices” compete for our grandchildren’s attention. Some voices impart truth; others don’t.

Grandparenting Without Overstepping

Most of us also remember what it felt like when our own parents interfered in our parenting. We didn’t appreciate it then—and our kids won’t now. So how do we stay involved without overstepping?
