Legacy Conference Expands Nationally

CGN is thrilled to announce national expansion plans for the CGN Legacy Conference developed to call attention to the issues and roles of today’s grandparents and parents. The conference was first held in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2007 in partnership with a local congregation, Woodmen Valley Chapel.

The interest sparked by the conference emphasized the need for more such conferences to encourage grandparents in various roles, and to cultivate a network of resources, support and biblical teaching for today’s grandparents.

Teams in Minnesota are already being organized, first as prayer groups, to begin seeking God’s wisdom and to submit to His direction for conferences in that state. Plans are also in the works to take the conference to the Northwest states sometime in 2010.

Executive Director, Cavin Harper, has discovered that interest is high everywhere for a conference such as this that provides tools and networking for grandparents and churches to equip this emerging and growing population who wants to make sure they leave a legacy for their grandchildren that really matters. God’s purposes and plans for our lives do not cease to be relevant or vital when we reach a certain age. Retirement needs to be re-thought and turned into opportunity to retool for the sake and blessing of future generations, rather than wasted on frivolous, empty activity that means nothing in the long run.

The Legacy Conference is designed to be a partnership of local churches and The Christian Grandparenting Network promoting intentional, godly grandparenting that is passionately dedicated to living for future. The purpose of the Legacy Conference is to promote and empower this level of intentional grandparenting that contributes positively to the health and stability of the family, is proactive about helping our grandchildren enter into a personal relationship with Christ, and is diligent to encourage them to submit to and follow Christ and God’s Word wholeheartedly in the midst of a turbulent world.

Our strategy includes workshops, forums, resources and inspiration in the context of a Christ-centered faith community where we stimulate and spur one another on to passionately live out God’s purposes as grandparents in whatever circumstance.

Recently, I programmed my phone’s GPS to guide me to a specific location, and somehow I ended up with two AI women giving me directions at the same time. Some voices impart truth; others don’t.

The Bread That Lasts Forever

Bread baking is one of my favorite pastimes. It began when my mother first introduced me to the art of yeasted breadmaking. Back then, I had to climb up onto a chair to reach the counter. I loved standing there with my mother’s arms wrapped around me while she pressed...
