In the Beginning…

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:1-5 NIV)

Our families have just experienced the busiest time of the year. We have decorated, bought presents, prepared special foods, and enjoyed family traditions.

We have celebrated the birth of Jesus, and now it is time to walk in His presence. What does it mean to experience a daily walk with Jesus? Who is  the risen Christ?

Jesus is the purest light. There is no darkness.
Jesus is LOVE. Unconditional LOVE.

In a world where we face obstacles to this love, we must remember to turn our faces back to the light of the world, and the warmth and love of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

It is hard to understand how much Jesus loves each one of us. Of course as Christians we know God loves us, but that is head knowledge. What about heart knowledge? Do we know, in our hearts, how much Jesus loves us? Can we completely accept His mercy and grace into our daily lives? Can we walk in His love?

For me, January is a quiet month. The trees are bare, the weather is cold, and I spend time indoors. I reflect on the past year and consider the new one. I focus on my daily walk with the son of God, the son of man; Jesus Christ.

Several Januarys ago, I attended a healing conference. I knew I needed spiritual healing. The world had convinced me that I was unworthy of God’s love. Through solid biblical teaching, prayers, and the presence of the Holy Spirit, I experienced the heart-filling knowledge that I am unconditionally loved by Jesus Christ. It changed my life.

I pray that this January you will be able to experience the love of Jesus in a new way. He knows you and loves you, and 2000 years ago he was born to save you. Let him into your heart. Rest in the knowledge of his love, and share that love with the world.

Bridging the Scriptural Gap for Your Grandchildren

Bridging the scriptural gap does not mean preaching at grandchildren or forcing faith into every conversation. It means standing in the space between biblical truth and everyday life, helping children connect God’s Word to their questions, fears, hopes, and daily experiences.

Helping Grandchildren Discern Truth From Lies

Recently, I programmed my phone’s GPS to guide me to a specific location, and somehow I ended up with two AI women giving me directions at the same time. To make things more confusing, they weren’t giving me the same directions. This experience reminds us that many “voices” compete for our grandchildren’s attention. Some voices impart truth; others don’t.

Grandparenting Without Overstepping

Most of us also remember what it felt like when our own parents interfered in our parenting. We didn’t appreciate it then—and our kids won’t now. So how do we stay involved without overstepping?
