God’s Special Gift

We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

It’s important that our grandchildren see themselves as valuable and precious. The Christmas season is a good time to share with them what a special gift from God they are to you.

A grandparent’s lap is one place where every small grandchild should feel totally accepted, beautiful, and safe. Compliment your grandchildren. Talk about how God makes each one a unique person. As they get older, they face life’s pressures and often feel inferior because they don’t think they live up to the expectations of others. Talk with them, write notes, and send cards and emails affirming them of your unconditional love and God’s love for them.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for my grandchildren.
I commit to pray for them regularly and love them unconditionally.
Give me wisdom to encourage them and show them their value as individuals.
Open their eyes to understand Your Word, preparing them to serve You. In Jesus Name.

To make things more confusing, they weren’t giving me the same directions. This experience reminds us that many “voices” compete for our grandchildren’s attention. Some voices impart truth; others don’t.

Grandparenting Without Overstepping

Most of us also remember what it felt like when our own parents interfered in our parenting. We didn’t appreciate it then—and our kids won’t now. So how do we stay involved without overstepping?
