God is Absolute Truth

by | Aug 23, 2021 | 0 comments

What can we know about God’s absolute truth? Truth is something that is always true, in all places, and all circumstances. It cannot be altered. Since truth is a characteristic of God, the nature of His truth is fixed and has been revealed to us so that we might know Him personally through His Son Jesus Christ. In Hebrews 13:8 we are told, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever,” guaranteeing us absolute truth exists and can be known. Jesus did not say He would lead us to the truth, He said He is the truth. Jesus is the witness to the Father and the revealed truth of His Gospel. A relationship with Jesus unveils His truth to us through His Word, the Bible.

How does God guide us into His truth?

Through the Holy Spirit by those who diligently seek it.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate
to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.
The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him.
But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” (John 14:16-17)

Pray

“Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to Your truth….” (Psalm 86:11)

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for revealing your truth to us through your Son Jesus Christ. I pray that we not only seek you with all our heart, but that we live according to your truth. May your Spirit of truth guide and direct us as we walk in your light, honoring you in all we do.

In the name of Jesus, I pray,

Amen

Helping Grandchildren Discern Truth From Lies

To make things more confusing, they weren’t giving me the same directions. This experience reminds us that many “voices” compete for our grandchildren’s attention. Some voices impart truth; others don’t.

Most of us also remember what it felt like when our own parents interfered in our parenting. We didn’t appreciate it then—and our kids won’t now. So how do we stay involved without overstepping?
