Free Thinker or FREED Thinker?

“Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” Prov. 4:7

Today is the 40th anniversary of the historic moon landing by Apollo 11 astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins. Who can forget that momentus event and as we were glued to our televisions to witness history in the making? Who could imagine that the original footage NASA made of the Apollo 11 landing is gone? That’s right, NASA has admitted that it was all recorded over years ago for no other reason than that NASA needed more tapes for other missions.

We shake our heads at such foolishness and wonder how such extraordinarily intelligent men could make such a colossal blunder, yet are we not guilty of the same thing in the vital arena of truth? Claiming to be free thinkers, what we really do is erase the truth from the “tapes” of the mind and heart, and rerecord with new definitions of truth. While NASA may be embarrassed about their faux pas, free thinkers know no such embarrassment. They pride themselves in their ability to “erase the tapes” of what is really true and create their own “truth”.

Even those of us who claim to follow Christ buy into the lies. While the Bible tell us to “trust in the Lord with all your heart… and in all your ways acknowledge Him”, we go about our lives as though God doesn’t exist. Jesus said, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you”, but we are obsessed with other “things” and like to boast, “I did it my way”.

Freed Thinkers, on the other hand, choose to operate from the realm of truth and faith rooted in the Gospel and God’s Word in the pursuit of wisdom and understanding. Because they see the world as it really is and know God as He really is, Freed Thinkers are free to see the wonders of God’s work in all of Creation, to enjoy life in all its fullness, to live with confidence, hope and peace in any circumstance, and to unceasingly worship God in those circumstances. That is a legacy I want my grandchildren to inherit – how about you?

GRANDPAUSE: “[Satan’s] a master at denying the [Word] to those who don’t want to believe it, and twisting its meaning to those who claim to believe it. He wears the mask of friendship and benevolence, and with smiling face and soothing voice and concerned nods and compassionate counsel, he leads men step by step into the eternal flames of the damned.” -Randy Alcorn, “Edge of Eternity”

The Nurturing Qualities of God

The concept of God’s care and compassion is a central theme throughout the Bible. Although the Scriptures – and Jesus as well – refer to God as “Father”, there are numerous examples of God demonstrating nurturing, caring attributes similar to those of a mother.

Bridging the Scriptural Gap for Your Grandchildren

Bridging the scriptural gap does not mean preaching at grandchildren or forcing faith into every conversation. It means standing in the space between biblical truth and everyday life, helping children connect God’s Word to their questions, fears, hopes, and daily experiences.

Helping Grandchildren Discern Truth From Lies

Recently, I programmed my phone’s GPS to guide me to a specific location, and somehow I ended up with two AI women giving me directions at the same time. To make things more confusing, they weren’t giving me the same directions. This experience reminds us that many “voices” compete for our grandchildren’s attention. Some voices impart truth; others don’t.
