We may not think a letter from us would hold any weight with our grandchildren or that they would even care to receive one from us. But I was reminded just how far from the truth that is. Here are three reasons for handwriting letters to your grandchildren.

Our families have just experienced the busiest season of the year. Now it is time to renew our walk in the presence of our Lord and Creator. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Let the year begin with a renewed sense of the love of Jesus.

Christian grandparents need to take a few moments to ask “What does the Bible say about grandparenting?” “What is the goal?” “What am I trying to accomplish in the lives of my children and grandchildren?” What we desperately need is an understanding of the biblical principles of grandparenting and a commitment to obey God’s Word in this area of life.

Jesus’s final words before he gave up his spirit are familiar to many of us. When we cross-reference his final words with verses of the Old Testament, we discover that these are not the babblings of a dying man. Jesus turned to the Word of God in his greatest hour of need. He isn’t just reciting Scripture here. He is praying it! Now we must battle in prayer for the souls of our children and grandchildren because Satan and his emissaries are working overtime, trying to deceive them.

When you see a Christmas tree this year, I hope it reminds you of the new life we can have in Christ Jesus, everlasting life when we invite Him into our lives and trust Him with the challenges and disappointments of life. God is waiting to give you and your family members new life, nourishment, and fulfillment.

Understanding and capturing the holiness of God is often beyond our grasp, making it challenging to describe. Knowing God is eternal and has dominion over everything is essential to our understanding of his holiness. God is holy.
