The old adage “The only thing certain about life is change itself” is so true. But focus on the positive instead of the negative. View technology as a blessing instead of something too hard to learn. Interact with a grandchild and allow him or her to teach you. Embrace advances in technology as gifts that enable your family to stay connected. Count the blessings of the twenty-first century.

• Interstates and improved roads

• Air travel

• Trains and buses

• Safer and better cars

• Multi-phone lines

• Cell phones with photos

• Cameras – digital and web

• Email and Web sites

• Online shopping with delivery

• Faster postal services

• Overnight express

Above all – prayer and faith remain, keeping us anchored in a changing world.¹

As grandparents, we are blessed to have so many ways to communicate with our dear grandchildren in this twenty-first century. Many grandparents get involved in Facebook to keep in touch. I have a grandmother friend who is very thankful to watch the growth of her granddaughter on Skype whose parents are missionaries in Asia. One of my friends developed her Photo Prayer Journal on her cell phone.

Let’s focus on the positive and use the available technologies to interact with our grandchildren, letting them know we love them and pray for them.
