Have You Heard About the Grandparents Day of Prayer?

Let’s make Grandparents Day on September 11, 2022, a Day of Prayer for our grandchildren and their parents.

Christian Grandparenting Network (CGN) invites you to participate in this movement to pray intentionally for our grandchildren, their families, and our world on Grandparent’s Day.

Today our nation is being attacked educationally, socially, financially, politically, racially, and spiritually. Christianity is under assault; parents and grandparents are involved in a tug of war for their children’s hearts and minds. They find it hard to navigate a world hostile to the truth with Satan’s aggressive attack on our families and nation.

We read in 2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NLT), “For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths.”

According to Barna Research, 58 percent of U.S. adults agreed that identifying moral truth is up to each individual; there are no moral absolutes that apply to everyone, all the time. Surprisingly, 48 percent of adults who identified as born-again Christians agreed with the statement. 1

This is what our grandchildren and their parents are exposed to hearing today. Grandparent’s Day of Prayer aims to raise an awareness of prayer among today’s Christian grandparents.

Grandparents who believe in prayer can make a difference.

Grandparents need to be intentional about the power of prayer to keep their grandchildren and their parents’ hearts and minds from falling captive to the enemy’s deception

We are engaged in spiritual warfare that requires prayer as a weapon. Therefore, Christian Grandparenting Network (CGN) invites you to join other grandparents to pray intentionally for our grandchildren, their families, and our world on Grandparent’s Day of Prayer, September 11.

Bridging the Scriptural Gap for Your Grandchildren

Bridging the scriptural gap does not mean preaching at grandchildren or forcing faith into every conversation. It means standing in the space between biblical truth and everyday life, helping children connect God’s Word to their questions, fears, hopes, and daily experiences.

Helping Grandchildren Discern Truth From Lies

Recently, I programmed my phone’s GPS to guide me to a specific location, and somehow I ended up with two AI women giving me directions at the same time. To make things more confusing, they weren’t giving me the same directions. This experience reminds us that many “voices” compete for our grandchildren’s attention. Some voices impart truth; others don’t.

Grandparenting Without Overstepping

Most of us also remember what it felt like when our own parents interfered in our parenting. We didn’t appreciate it then—and our kids won’t now. So how do we stay involved without overstepping?
