A Thanksgiving Blessing for 2015

Thanksgiving Day is just around the corner. All the preparations are under way, and we look forward to this time of celebration and feasting.

As I mentioned last week, this is a time to remember God’s goodness and provisions. I hope some of you are making plans to build your own Witness Altar for the Thanksgiving table to remind everyone why we are giving thanks… and to Whom.

As you consider all that God has done and how undeserving we are of His goodness, I want to leave you with this Thanksgiving Blessing—as a witness between us of God’s greatness and goodness—that He alone is God.

On this Thanksgiving Day, may the Lord, who alone is God, bless you and keep you as His treasured ones. May your hearts be filled with gladness and thanksgiving because of all that God has done, for how He has revealed Himself faithful and good even in the tough things that come our way. May there be rejoicing and singing at your table because of the Lord’s blessings.

May you remember how much He has given to you, and how much He loves you and promises to never leave you or forsake you—even in the darkest moments. And may this be your hymn of praise this Thanksgiving day…

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
You are my Lord, and apart from You I have no good thing.
My heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
You have made known to me the path of life,
and Your presence fills me with joy!
I give thanks to You, O Lord, for You are good!
I will ever sing praises to Your name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul!

We’d like to hear from you…

6 Ways to Love a Grandchild In College

It’s the time of year when college-aged grandchildren are shopping for dorm room or apartment supplies as they prepare to begin a new adventure away from the home in which they grew up. No longer “children” but not yet independent adults. Grandparents must adjust their methods of connection with those I lovingly refer to as “chronological adults.”
