Praying for God’s Armor of Protection on our Grandchildren at School

by | Sep 9, 2012 | 1 comment

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Put on the whole armor of God so that you may take your stand
against the devil’s schemes” (Ephesians 6:10, 11).

As grandparents, we need to pray our grandchildren will grow to stand strong in their faith and God will place an armor of protection over them as they go to school. I prayed that God would place a hedge of protection around my three boys’ everyday before they left for school.

Our younger grandchildren have challenges with lying, cheating, disobedience to parents, teachers, etc. Our older teenage grandchildren and our young adult grandchildren need protection, as they tend to push the boundaries of godly lifestyles. The devil is deceptive and he tries to distract them from walking with the Lord.

Pray your grandchildren will:

1. Recognize the deception of the world.

2. Put on the whole armor of God so they are ready to fight their daily temptations.

3. Arm themselves with Christ’s righteousness by repenting of their sins.

4. Stand firm with the belt of truth (God’s Word).

5. Hold the shield of faith to recognize and extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil

   one.

6. Memorize the Word of God so the Holy Sprit can use it when needed to withstand the

   enemy.

7. Be alert, self-controlled, and stand firm in their faith.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

You know how easily my grandchildren can be influenced

by their friends—the fashions, music, their passions and problems.

I ask You to protect ___________ and draw each of his/her friends unto Yourself.

May Your Presence in the lives of my grandchildren be a clear and consistent witness

Of your redeeming power to their friends. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. Christian Grandparenting is just what I have been looking for all along. My granddaughters (twins turning 17 today) have been my prayer prerequisites from their first hour after birth.
I have also set up a Facebook site aimed for Praying Grandmothers Together, hence the name. At this point “our goals” are the same. To unite, support and pray for “the rearguard of Christian families” to pray for their families and friends. God bless you all in your God given paths. Our families need us.

Helping Grandchildren Discern Truth From Lies

Recently, I programmed my phone’s GPS to guide me to a specific location, and somehow I ended up with two AI women giving me directions at the same time. To make things more confusing, they weren’t giving me the same directions. This experience reminds us that many “voices” compete for our grandchildren’s attention. Some voices impart truth; others don’t.

Bread baking is one of my favorite pastimes. It began when my mother first introduced me to the art of yeasted breadmaking. Back then, I had to climb up onto a chair to reach the counter. I loved standing there with my mother’s arms wrapped around me while she pressed...
