I was recently told, “The world calls children a burden, however, God calls them a blessing.” Children are a lot of work, they need a lot of attention, ask many questions, and they can often be in the way and annoying. However, we read in God’s Word, “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him” (Psalm 127:3 NLT). Children are a special gift, just ask any grandparent, and they will agree that their grandchildren are beautiful and the most brilliant. Grandparents love to talk about their grandchildren. Grandparenting give us a second chance of parenting, with a different perspective.
With the gift comes a responsibility of sharing God’s love to another generation. As godly grandparents, we see the urgency to pray for our grandchildren as we listen to the news and see the things that are happening in the world. However, God has given us the opportunity to pray for their physical, spiritual and emotional protection and the well-being of those dear grandchildren God has gifted us. No matter where they live, near by or far away, we can always pray for them.
Prayer
Dear Father in heaven, I pray ________ will understand your love, desire to be obedient to your Word, wanting to please you, and live within Your design for his/her life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
