Praying Proverbs 14:16

“A wise man fears the Lord and shuns evil,
But a fool is hotheaded and reckless.”  Proverbs 14:16

Lord, we can certainly act foolishly at any age
by behaving carelessly and without thought.
However, we demonstrate wisdom when we exhibit restraint.
I pray my grandchild would find delight in demonstrating this type of self-control.
Please strengthen his desire to live a life that is honoring to You.

Application:  Act out the story of Daniel 6 of the time Daniel shunned evil by refusing to pray to anyone but the true and living God. Talk about how God protected him in the lion’s den because of his faithfulness.

This prayer suggestion is used by permission from “My Grandmother is. . . praying for me” by Kathryn March, Pamela Ferris, and Susan Kelton. They are three ordinary grandmothers desiring to pray for the next generation to become men and women of strong character and great faith. They have a verse from the Proverbs, a prayer for the verse and an application for each day of the year. I have found the book an excellent resource for praying from my grandchildren, especially for character development. You may order the book from their website:  www.mygrandmotheris.com.

Discovering Jesus – The Lamb of God

During biblical times in the Jewish religious life and sacrificial system, lambs were sacrificed daily to atone for the sins of the people. The lambs used in these sacrifices had to be spotless, without blemish or defects as they symbolized perfect, blameless purity. They foreshadowed what the prophet Isaiah told of the coming One who would be brought “like a lamb to the slaughter”.
