A grandmother in Oregon writes: “Praying for my grandchild has been a priority for me. However, last summer I was invited to a G@P prayer meeting. Praying with other grandparents has been an added blessing. We have shared our heart’s desire for our grandchildren, acknowledging their needs, and praying together. It has reminded me of the scripture, “Where two or more are gathered in my name, I am in the midst of them”, Matthew 18:20. As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are “to stimulate one another to love and good deeds”. Heb 10:24.
At the meeting we were given a prayer card, “Scriptures to Pray for Grandchildren” listing specific prayers for each day of the month. The prayer card has been useful as a daily prayer guide for my granddaughter. I have found that when I pray according to God’s Word, I am in line with His will, enabling me to pray with direction, power, and wisdom, giving me more confidence and boldness. What better way to demonstrate our love for our grandchildren, than by standing in the gap with prayer on their behalf.”
As the National Prayer Coordinator, I would like to challenge grandparents all over the world to find other grandparents with whom they can unite in prayer to stand in the gap for their grandchildren. Today, our grandchildren are living in a world where absolutes are not recognized and the truth is questioned. As grandparents, we have a great responsibility to stand in the gap for their generation.
