Beyond March Madness

Everyone knows March means basketball, and lots of it. March Madness is the showcasing of the best of NCAA hoops in this country. Unless you are one of those not into basketball, you will be among those inevitably talking about basketball and rooting for their favorite teams. But even if you’re not a fan, you’re aware of this March Madness and the excitement that is building among basketball fans.

We have a lot of excitement building at the Christian Grandparenting Network (CGN) too, but it has nothing to do with college basketball. Our excitement is focused on the opportunities the Lord has given us to share our vision with so many in the last few months, and to see growing numbers of grandparents and parents getting involved with CGN. Now that March is here, our energy and excitement is centered on our annual Fund Raising Banquet on March 24th when we will have the opportunity to share our vision with even more new friends.

As a relatively small and new ministry organization, CGN can only meet its financial obligations and continue to do this work effectively through the generous support and involvement of people like you — people who believe that the mission of CGN is mandated by God, and therefore want to be actively involved with us as ministry partners.

CGN has no paid staff and no products or merchandise to sell. We do provide two programs — GrandCamps and Legacy Conferences, and while the fees received from these help cover most of the costs for these events, a significant amount is not covered by the fees we charge. Additionally, we depend upon our donors to make it possible for financial aid to be provided for grandparents and grandkids who might not otherwise be able to attend a GrandCamp, and to cover staffing costs for these programs.

The Legacy Journal is a FREE resource tool CGN makes available to anyone who requests a copy. CGN is able to do this only because of the generous and on-going support of our donors. Each copy of this Journal costs over $5.50 to produce and mail to those who request this practical and useful tool. We hope to be able to continue this practice of making individual copies available for FREE.

The CGN FundRaising Banquet, scheduled for March 24th in Colorado Springs (click here for more information), makes it possible for us to ensure on ongoing commitment both financially and personally to the CGN mission of igniting a passion for grandparenting intentional about helping future generations know and follow Christ wholeheartedly. The Banquet provides the opportunity to showcase our ministry to more and more people and to enlist their active participation with us in this mission.

This year our Banquet will focus mostly on our GrandCamp Fund to help defray program costs so we can keep our fees to a minimum, and to also fund the scholarship program providing financial aid for those with limited incomes. You can make a nomination for someone to receive financial aid and attend GrandCamp this summer. Click here or go to our web site to make a nomination.

I invite to join us for this important event on March 24th in Colorado Springs. I also encourage you to invite others who may not yet be acquainted with CGN. There is no cost to attend thanks to the generous support of our Table Sponsors, so what could be better than a fun night out with incredible food and great fellowship for free!

If you are unable to attend the Banquet, you can still be meaningfully involved in a way that will impact generations to come and fill your soul with delight. Here are some ways you can make a difference:

6 Ways to Love a Grandchild In College

It’s the time of year when college-aged grandchildren are shopping for dorm room or apartment supplies as they prepare to begin a new adventure away from the home in which they grew up. No longer “children” but not yet independent adults. Grandparents must adjust their methods of connection with those I lovingly refer to as “chronological adults.”
